With so many people worrying about inflation, it may seem contradictory that the United States Dollar goes much further than it used to when traveling abroad; however, this year has seen the USD strengthen against many foreign currencies. Savvy travelers are seeing the savings and booking their long-delayed vacations. After a long hiatus from making memories during trips and vacations, now is the perfect time to get back into it! Here are some insights into the strength of the dollar and how it compares with other currencies:

If you were waiting for your dream vacation to become more affordable, the wait is over!

If you have thought about traveling to Europe or the United Kingdom, now is the time to start planning your vacation — Europe and the U.K. have rarely been this affordable!

How is that so? Contrary to what many believe, we have a strong dollar (USD). Few travelers pay attention to currency fluctuations, but they should! Currency movements can make a significant difference in overall spending while traveling.

The Schengen region is vast: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. The Euro — the currency of the Schengen Region, has rarely been this substantially discounted to the USD.

The last time the Euro was this low was over two decades ago! The Euro is down almost 19% against the dollar this year alone. Consider this: If you bought something for €1000 last summer, the amount in U.S. dollars would have been $1190, and today it is almost on par — that is a considerable difference!

If that is not enough incentive, the same thing is occurring with the British Pound! Yes! The British Pound currently converts to USD 1.18. Not since 1985 has there been a better exchange rate between these currencies. Using the same example as above: If you purchased something for £1000 last year, it would have cost USD 1400. That same £1000 item would now cost $1180. A 15% difference!
